	The showy orchid typically has pink or purple sepals and petals, which cup together to form a hood over the white lip.
The color may vary from all pink or purple to all white.	In Arkansas it is found mainly in the Ozark region. In our area it may be found in the rich woods of the river bottoms on the north side of the river.	The showy orchid is found in the eastern half of the United States and is on the lists of species of conservation concern in several northern states.
